Attention fellow educators and students,

United By Autism needs your help!

United By Autism is a registered 501c3 organization that provides educational materials and support to families and educators on a journey with autism.

What is different about us is that by participating in our 2010-2011 fund raising campaign your program will have the opportunity to see our work first hand!  By UNITING with us this March - April 2011 your program will benefit through the following:

ü  Books for your school or local library on the subject of autism will be donated to enhance opportunities for individuals with special needs that may be in your classrooms or in your community.

ü  There will be opportunities for participating staff members to win prizes to enhance learning in their classrooms in exchange for spreading awareness via our prize drawing for 2011.

ü  The advisor that wins our “GET CREATIVE” fund raiser contest will receive a $100 gift certificate from Walmart to be used to purchase items for their classroom.

ü  In addition 20% of your donations will support our “Families in Need Fund” (see our website to nominate a family)

ü  The  OVERALL program that raises the most contributions will be awarded one of the following:

v  Elementary School- a new book for each of your schools classrooms (max retail each $15)

v  Middle School- fundraising advisor will receive $300 worth of books for their classroom.

v  High School-  a graduating Senior chosen by the winning school will win a Barnes & Noble gift certificate to purchase textbooks for college in the amount of $300 for their hard work in spreading awareness.

You can help by hosting a Teacher “Jean Day for Autism” on March 25th or April 1st 2011.  For a $5.00 donation each teacher can dress down and will have a chance to be entered in a mass drawing for prizes.

Get your clubs/classrooms involved in our “GET CREATIVE” fundraising contest!  Submit your donation in the form of a check payable to United By Autism with a paragraph (pictures are always wonderful) of what type of creative fundraiser your kids put together.  Remember there is prize for the advisor with the most creative idea!

Where does your money go?

Over the past few years United By Autism has donated thousands of dollars worth of books and supplies on autism to our schools  and libraries.  Siblings, students, families, and staff members have been able to find answers to their questions due to the materials provided and teachers have enhanced learning through our classroom donations.  We have provided scholarship opportunities to those lending a hand and raising awareness in schools.   1 in 70 boys will receive an autism diagnosis and with this topic becoming an epidemic, EVERYONE needs to understand the signs and be proactive as you WILL know someone in your life with autism.

Over the past few years we have donated libraries of books to facilities catering to those with autism in hopes of enhancing learning opportunities and giving our kids the gift of reading.  Our contributions for this campaign alone total over $6,000 over a two year period.   We have even gone global when we heard a need for support for a small school in Trinidad/Tobago that helps children with autism.

We reach out to children placed in hospital and/or residential settings for the HOLIDAYS who may not have access to family during times when we treasure ours the most.

We provide funding to programs in schools for autism.  We have supported workshops, therapists, and services by funding events and programs.  This year we are excited to add our “Families in need fund” for 2011 (please see our website www.unitedbyautism.org to learn how you could nominate a family who may need some help in your area.
